The Mitchell Thorp Foundation (MTF) is now accepting applications for their Fall 2016 Youth Leadership Council, a group which seeks to help local students grow life skills through community service and leadership development opportunities. Members will plan and carry out activities and events in support of MTF’s mission of supporting families whose children suffer from life-threatening illnesses, diseases, and disorders. In addition, members will have the opportunity to participate in a structured servant leadership development training program and host MTF’s Showcase event. Each student receives community service for all their participation in the program, and senior students receive special recognition in MTF’s annual Youth Leadership Showcase along with a certificate of distinguished service and a letter of recommendation. Membership is open to students in grades 7 through 12, and applications are being accepted now until Sept. 10. For more information and to download an application visit
